History of Dominos Pizza Dough
Domino’s Pizza restaurant history began in 1960 with just one location. Back then, Domino’s was called DomiNick’s, and two brothers named Tom and James purchased it for just $500! Tom renamed the restaurant Domino’s Pizza five years later.
In 1961, Tom Monaghan paid $500 for his brother’s stake in the company, and by 1965, he had grown it to three locations.
But Domino’s didn’t really start to take off until 1967. Monaghan bought out his partner and started franchising the firm, allowing others to build their own Domino’s Pizza outlets.
Domino’s used to guarantee that its pizzas would be delivered in 30 minutes or less, or they would be free.

Make your own Domino’s pizza dough instead of ordering from Domino’s! A mixing bowl, six primary ingredients, and a goodie bag (secret ingredients) are all you need! This pizza dough recipe is superior to all others and is prepared similarly to the pizza that Domino’s is famous for.
Ingredients
1. One-third cup of room temperature (80°F) water
Dry active yeast, 1 teaspoon
Twice as much sugar and salt
Four tablespoons of soybean oil
Three tablespoons of dry milk
1½ teaspoons of baking powder
Instructions
In a large mixing basin, whisk together the water, yeast, sugar, salt, and oil.
Stir in flour, baking powder, and dry milk.
Combine and knead for seven minutes (if using a mixer, on low speed).
Make three (12 oz) balls out of the dough.
Transfer to a tray that has been gently oiled and oil the tops. Freeze or store covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
To make pizza:
Stretch each pizza dough ball to a 12-inch circle after dredging it in one cup of cornmeal.
Move to a pizza pan with holes that have been oiled.
Cover with 1 cup tomato sauce, leaving a 1-inch edge for the crust. Create a custom pizza or top it with your preferred toppings.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the crust is dark brown, on the bottom rack of an oven set to 500°F. Cut into eight pieces and serve.
Recipe Tips
Add more ingredients, such as garlic salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, parmesan cheese, or fennel seeds, to the crust after brushing it with garlic-infused butter or oil.
Flours: The gluten in bread flour makes it easy to stretch out the pizza dough. All-purpose flour can be substituted; just lengthen the kneading time to activate the gluten.
Pizza Pan: Before putting the pizza in a conveyor oven, Domino’s Pizza employs flat pizza discs with holes in them. Any pizza pan will work.
Cheese: Provolone and mozzarella are combined with a few other white mixes in Domino’s Pizza. For the mozzarella, use part-skim.
Sauce: search for a rich, flavourful tomato sauce that is sweet, like my Marinara sauce, and thick like theirs!
